First and foremost, the work of the gospel preacher is preaching. Students at MCOB are prepared to communicate the word of God clearly and passionately.
Students at MCOB are taught how to teach the word of God with accurate skills of interpretation. Knowledge gained must be demonstrated by teaching and explanation. MCOB focuses on preparing men to be great teachers of the Word.
Christian journalism has always played a vital role in the restoration of New Testament Christianity. Our students are challenged to become capable and effective writers who someday can have their works published and read for years to come.
Our students are taught the truth in Christian doctrine and emphasis is given to recognizing and answering doctrinal error. Our graduates may be called upon to debate false teachers someday. If so, they will be prepared.
Preachers must be soul winners. We believe the church has one job to do - save souls. As our students are grounded in doctrine and gain the ability to answer doctrinal error, they will be challenged to implement their knowledge and skill to save lost souls and strengthen the saved.
We value having a faculty which is comprised of faithful ministers of the gospel. With the right education, and providing students with the proper examples, guidance, instruction, mentoring, and friendship, MCOB stands ready to help the man of God reach his goal as a servant of the Lord.
The philosophy guiding MCOB is completely devoted to New Testament Christianity. Everything we intend to do is dedicated to Christ, His word, and His church. We steadfastly promote the plea to return to New Testament Christianity through obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the gospel alone. We believe that every generation needs “a voice crying in the wilderness.” We intend to be a “voice” for our generation and generations to come. Our voice will be heard through the work of our teachers and graduates all over the world as we are strengthened with might in our inner man by His Spirit. We desire to call to repentance our world, our countries, our communities, our families, and when necessary, our congregations. Our plea is for a return to the “old paths.” We believe in providing a school that is truly distinctive in not yielding to denominational doctrines or the men who teach them. We intend to conduct a school that will say, “Here we stand, and we will stand immovable.” We hope to do so with great courage, enthusiasm, and strength that can come only from God.
No government funds are received by MCOB. Our standing in the Lord’s church affirms our credentials and supports our work financially. We are determined and blessed not to seek any remuneration from the United States or any government and are not bound by any of the rules they seek to impose upon educational institutions in general and Bible programs specifically. Our “rule book” is the Holy Bible. While we appreciate the intention of the government accrediting associations to ensure that degrees granted are legitimate in nature, our legitimacy comes from the students we train and the work they do in the kingdom. Legitimacy of this nature is of the highest regard in our estimation and is sufficient for MCOB.
Our reasons for not seeking government money or accreditation are obvious to those who realize what is happening in the United States concerning the LGBTQ movement. As recently as 2021-22, the 117th Congress passed House Resolution 5 – a.k.a., “The Equality Act.” We fear this and other such resolutions could be destructive to the nature of Christian education and accredited educational institutions as we know them. Our conviction is to stay clear of government regulations and resolutions which could inhibit our ability and effectiveness to train gospel preachers. Therefore, MCOB will not seek or accept any influence or interference from outside governing agencies which could have a detrimental effect on the stated purpose of MCOB.
Our board of directors is comprised of faithful elders and ministers in the Lord's church. MCOB will always have men who meet the qualification of faithful service in the kingdom serving on its board. This is our only qualification for board members.
Andy Erwin serves as the President of MCOB. He holds degrees from Amridge University (B.A, M.Div., Ph.D.) in the fields of theological, biblical, and ministerial studies. His dissertation focused on the need for mentoring preaching students in a school of preaching.
Andy has been an instructor in various schools of preaching and Bible colleges since 2003. He has also been actively training preachers around the world directing the Worldwide Preacher Training Initiative for the Summerdale church of Christ since 2022.
Brother Erwin remains active in church ministry as well. He serves as the minister for the Unity church of Christ, in Taft, Tennessee. He is also the editor of the Gospel Gleaner and has published eleven books. Andy has also participated in six debates.
